The month that was....October

October always seems to be one of those months that seems depressing as the seasons change, the clocks change, it's so much darker and christmas starts to infiltrate our lives. So what have I been up to this last month?

At the beginning of October me and my friend went to see the comedian Chris Ramsey on one of his tour dates and it was really good. The gig was in a really small room so it felt really intimate and his support comedian who was Carl Hutchinson was amazing too! Of course we went for a cheeky Nandos before the gig!

I've also been indulging in the odd Jean Paul Gaultier Diet Coke cans, they are almost too cute to throw away.

And last weekend we got snow! I'd been tricking my mum and dad on Friday night saying it was snowing when it wasn't as we weren't forecast any but when I woke up on Saturday there was a dusting on the ground. Unfortunately it didn't last too long.

One last note, did everyone see the photos and coverage of Hurricane Sandy over in the US? Some of the pictures were amazing, can't imagine what it would have been like to have been there.

Anyway hope you've all had a good month!

Collection 2000 gel liner

I have to admit I didn't expect much from the Collection 2000 gel liner but I underestimated how good it actually is.

The liner goes on easily and is really pigmented. The brush is a little fiddly as it's so small but it's useable. Even after having this liner on all day it was still in place at the end of the day and hadn't lost any colour.

For £4.99 I will certainly be buying this again when I start to run low and it is the best gel liner I have used.

Available from Boots and Superdrug.

Umberto Giannini Morning After Dry Shampoo

I nearly use Batiste dry shampoo, out of all the ones I've tried it has always been consistent and I love the different scents and varieties. I'm not exactly sure when I bought this Umberto Giannini Morning After Dry Shampoo which is a sign I should probably use it!

Like most dry shampoo's when you spray it is a fine white powder but it doesn't really have a scent. I kind of like this about it as it's perfect for people who don't really like fragranced products.

It left my hair feeling refreshed but it doesn't really do anything that Batiste dry shampoo doesn't and as this is alot more expensive at £5.61 (available from Boots) I don't think I would buy it again as the cheaper alternative works just as well.

Which dry shampoo would you recommend?

Miracle Product - Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

This is another of those products that is really really hard to find in the UK and it's typical that everyone seems to rave about it. When Annabella from Skin Scrubs went back to the USA this was one of the products I asked her to bring back for me and boy am I glad I did.

You get a quite sizeable bottle of product and the instructions are simple enough: just apply to cuticle, leave for 15 seconds, push back or trim and wipe away excess product.

After using many different cuticle removing products and not finding a single one that I have liked I didn't hold many hopes for this one.

So I applied to my cuticles one at a time, left for 15 seconds and pushed them back. All I can say is I was amazed at how easy they were to remove and it didn't hurt at all. It took me around an hour to do all my nails but that was mainly due to the bad state they were in.

I have since found one retailer on eBay where you can buy this from and I have purchased it for a couple of people I know because I raved to them about how good it was.

If you want to try it just search on eBay and it should come up, it's around £4 for a bottle the same as mine.

Review - Charles Worthington Front Row dry conditioner

I think we all know about dry shampoo and how amazing it is but what about dry conditioner. I suppose it makes sense to have a dry conditioner to use after dry shampooing just like we would when washing out hair with normal shampoo and conditioner.

I've had Charles Worthington's Dry Conditioner for a while but it's just been sitting in my cupboard until a couple of weeks ago when I sorted though my products and decided it was about time I started to use it.

Instructions were simple enough: use after dry shampooing. As I dry shampoo in between washes it would fit into my routine perfectly.

My first impression of this was high strongly perfumed it was. It smelt like really strong aftershave which at first was quite pleasant and then it just gave me a headache.

The product itself did make my hair a little greasy, after using this can up I don't think I'll repurchase and I'll just stick to dry shampooing on it's own.

I can only find the mini 100ml version of this on Boot's website and it is prices at £2.55.

Have your used a dry conditioner? What did you think?
