Magazine freebies

In my lunch break yesterday I nipped into WHSmith to get a magazine and instead of getting what I wanted and paying I browsed. This is lethal! And I spied these:

  • Cosmopolitan have a free Sanctuary 5 minute thermal detox face mask (only worth £1.99 but you do also get a free celebrity hair magazine too)
  • And Instyle (boy did I rip this from the shelves!) have a free L'Occitane handcream worth £7! There's a choice of 3 scents: Shea butter, Cherry Blossom and the new Fleur Cherie which is an Instyle exclusive as it hasn't yet been launched. I got the Cherry and the Fleur and I plan to get some more tomorrow as I LOVE L'Occitane handcream! Well worth it considering the magazine is only £3.60.
Has anyone got their hands on either of these? Or do you know of any other good freebies with magazines at the moment?

Review - Soap and Glory Slimwear

I've had Soap and Glory's Slimwear, which aims to reduce the appearance of cellulite and to firm up your wobbly bits, for a couple of years now and started using it but stopped with half a tube left, not sure why! So I dug it out and started using it again.

When I first was using it I didn't notice a difference but I wasn't using it religiously but this time I used it every night.

I've been using it for about 3-4 weeks and even though the product is a weird dark green colour I massaged it in every night before bed and I've seen a huge improvement. My thighs have definitely firmed up and look smoother. Ok, so my cellulite is till there but it now looks a lot better!

As this is £9.25 (available from Boots) it's an affordable product which allows you to slap it on without thinking that it's costing you an arm and a leg!

I would repurchase this and I'm planning to do so after payday.

Review: Revlon Grow Luscious mascara

I bought this mascara a couple of weeks ago, well actually it was free because I bought it with my Boots point! I love it when that happens!

Revlon had never been a brand which I looked at until I bought their Double Twist mascara earlier this year and boy was I impressed! So when this mascara came out I was abit dubious as it claims to help lashes grow stronger whilst adding length and volume.

The first thing I noticed was how big the brush was. I've put it next to a standard sized eyeshadow applicator so you can see the size. I found it easier to apply a first coat by using the end of the brush and then top up by using the whole brush. And this is the effect you get! Please excuse the crazy looking eyebrows!

The left eye has the mascara on and the right one is without mascara. There is a noticeable difference in length but I'm not sure about added volume. I've only used this twice and so far so good! I would buy this again and I would recommend it for everyone to try!

Have you tried this mascara, what did you think?

My first Lily Lolo order

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some samples from Lily Lolo. They were priced from 50p - £1.25 so were really affordable to try before making the full sized purchase.

What I received:
3 x blushers (bags)
4 x concealer/cover ups (bags)
2 x foundations (containers)
2 x bronzers (containers)
1 x finishing powder (container)

Blushers L-R:
Ooh La La
Clementine
Doll Face

Concealers/cover ups L-R:
Blush away
Peepo
Nude
Barely beige

Bronzers L-R:
South beach
Waikiki

Foundation and finishing powder L-R:
Candy cane (foundation)
Flawless matte (finishing powder)
Barely buff (foundation)

I'v used a few of these already and my first impressions of those:
Doll face blush - very sparkly, not for everyday use
Barely beige concealer - great, would buy this full sized
South beach bronzer - a matte finish very similar to Hoola from Benefit, not my cup of tea!
Waikiki - love it, its got a nice sheen to it and reminds me of Benefit's Some like It Hot. would buy this full size

When I've used the others I'll do a review post on those too!

Have you used Lily Lolo? What do you think? Which products would you recommend?

Haul - Primark

On sunday I went shopping, mainly to get my new Blackberry which I suppose I should have included in this haul but haven't! This is all from Primark as I didn't really have time to go anywhere else.

Faux sheepskin bag - £6
Over the knee socks - £1.50 for 2 pairs
Faux sheepskin mittens - £3
Brooch - £2.50 (enlarged below)

I got this to go on a plain black bubble hem top which needs something to brighten it up and I think this will go well with it. Hmm should have took a photo of it on the top shouldn't I? I might do that on another post another day!

Hope you're all ok and the rain isn't ruining your day!

Just a quick note....

to say......

I've been a bad blogger lately with hardly any posts. This is due to working 5/6 days a week so blogging has had to be put to one side. I promise I'll get back on track soon but not blogging now means lots and lots to write about when I do get back up and running!

New followers - I know I haven't really shown myself to be a good blogger but please stick with me, I promise to get things sorted!

xx

Organic Surge online offer

Organic Surge currently is offering free delivery on all orders placed via their website until 30th September and when you spend £25 or over you will also a face mask worth £6.99 free!

I've used a few of their skincare products before and I was impressed and what's even better is that non of their products contain parabens, SLS, foaming agents, synthetic perfumes and colours and other nasty things.

Monday 13 September 2010

Mini Haul....and it was all free!

Yep that right all this was free because I used my Boots points! That's the kind of shopping I like!

Revlon - Grow Luscious Mascara
After seeing Georgia's post on this I decided that I had to have it! I had never really thought about using Revlon mascara's until I bought the Double Twist one about 6 months ago and I love love love it! Even more than my Maxfactor False Lash Effect one!

Good Things products
Good Things products are currently on offer at 2 for £8 in Boots and I've been wanting to try these since they came out a few months ago as they are paraben and sulfate free and don't contain any mineral oils or animal ingredients so they are uber good for your skin! And they all smell gorgeous as they contain 'superfruit extracts'. The range starts at £3.49 for a pack of face wipes up to £8.99 for a night moisturiser. I got (in photo L-R):
  • Miracle Mattifier moisturiser (blackcurrant and goji berry) - £7.99 for 100ml (yep and on offer)
  • Dream Cream night cream (fig and avocado) - £8.99 for 50ml (over £8 and on offer at 2 for £8! Bargain or what?!?)
  • Purifying Cleanser (mango and blueberry) - £4.99 for 150ml
  • Five Minute Facial Face Mask (avocado and goji berry) - £5.99 for 100ml

I also want to try the eye gel (which contains raspberry and lychee) which is £5.99 so I might well be spending the rest of my points on a couple more items!

Reviews will follow for all these products once I've been using them for a few weeks.

Lily Lolo mineral cosmetics

I'd heard a lot about Lily Lolo from reading other beauty blogs and everyone seemed to rave about how good the products so I thought I'd check out their website. Their products are free from parabens, synthetic dyes and fragrances, petrochemicals and other nasty things which means that their products are super good for your skin and body!

(Image from Lily Lolo Twitter)

The worst thing about trying make-up, especially where you can't use a tester, is trying to find the right shade because the colours on the computer aren't necessarily the colours which the products are but Lily Lolo make it quite easy to choose. Their products are divided up into light, medium and dark shades and what's even better is that they have a description to go with each shade explaining which skin tone it would look great on.

But, it gets better! They also offer sample sizes of their foundation, powder, concealer, bronzers and blushers so you can try before making the big purchase and at 75p - £1.25 you can afford to buy quite a few!

So I have my wish list:
Finishing powder
•Flawless Matte

Light foundation
•Candy Cane

Bronzer
•Waikiki
•South Beach

Concealer
•Blush Away
•Nude Cover Up
•Peep O

Blusher
•Peachy Pink
•Ooh La La
•Rosey Apple
•Doll Face

Oh and postage starts from £1! Bargain!

Has anyone tried Lily Lolo products? What do you think?
