Review - Purity skincare

I was recently sent some products from Purity skincare to try. I received a face wash, cleanser, exfoliator and what I'm reviewing here an anti-ageing moisturiser, overnight moisturiser and a face mask.

Purity was a brand I had heard of before but didn't know that much about. Now I know that Purity is organic and products are free from parabens, GM and petroleum-derived products. All packaging is recyclable and products are made in the UK.

Anti-ageing moisturiser - £7.99
I'm normally very careful with what moisturisers I use on my face as some products just sit on it and my skin can be left feeling tacky and horrible. I tested this one on my hand first, if it has a good effect on my hand I'll use it on my face and this one passed. On my face it absorbed quickly and left it feeling moisturised. I would also say it also left my skin looking and feeling a little matte, and as I have combination skin this is very good.

Regenerating overnight moisturiser - £7.99
For night time I am a little more flexible with what I use on my face. I normally use creams which are a little too heavy to use on my skin during my day so generally anything goes. This cream was interesting. When I opened the tub it looked like a balm and on initial testing it felt like a balm. On my face it sat heavy, felt heavy and isn't really my cup of tea. My skin was left feeling lovely and soft after but it's not for me.

Anti-ageing serum and mask - £8.99
This product was very watery. To me a mask should be thick in consistency but this wasn't. The instructions say apply a thick layer, which I did, and wait for it to dry. I didn't think it would dry as it was so watery. Ahhh how I underestimated it. It did set and not rock hard like others can that then take an age to remove. It left my skin soft and I would quite happily use this several times a week just for a boost if my skin was looking a little tired.

Out of these products tried the only one I would buy is the anti-ageing serum and mask, the other two just didn't really do it for me even though I did quite like the anti-ageing moisturiser. If you want to try these they are available to buy from here.

Project 10 Pan

My last project 10 Pan post was in February, it feels so much longer than that, but I thought I'd just do a little update. Since February I've used up 4 products:

1x mascara
2x face primer
1x blusher

As I haven't used up that many products I had a little look to see what products I had open that were half empty so here are 6 products that I'm going to aim to use up over the next couple of months:

2x mineral foundation
2x mineral concealer
1x face powder
1x face primer

Are you doing the Project 10 Pan challenge? How well are you doing?

Review - Spa Find Calmit Extract Intensive Anti-ageing Treatment

I was recently sent some products from Spa Find to try out including a box containing Calmit Extract Intensive Anti-Ageing Treatment facial oils.

Spa Find was a brand I hadn't heard of before but all of their products are free from parabens, aren't tested on animals, are hypo-allergenic and are natural! They also contain 7 minerals: magnesium, potassium and sodium, calcium, bromide, sulphur and iodine. But back to the Calmit Extracts.

The box contains three 6ml vials of treatment and directions of use are: use one vial a week to massage in the face, neck and decollete or use all three as an intensive treatment when skin needs a boost.

Each vial contains Harmonised Water (not entirely sure what this is) and Padina Pavonica algae extract to help repair ageing skin and to stimulate collagen synthesis and even skin tone. They also contain Witch Hazel to rebalance skin and anti-oxidants to protect against further signs of ageing.

Ok so maybe calling these an oil was a little misleading of me as they are much more of a water based treatment. One word of warning is that the product comes out fast so be careful otherwise you'll end up with much more than you wanted!

I poured some of the treatment out into the palm of one of my hands and used the other to rub it into my face and neck, I generally poured enough out for two uses so I applied one treatment, waited for it to absorb and then applied the rest.

I thought this product would leave my skin a bit tacky and greasy but it didn't. The treatment absorbed quickly into my skin and left it feeling hydrated. Ok so it maybe didn't leave my skin feeling like it had a major moisture boost but it did leave it feeling revitalised.

I couldn't imagine using all one whole vial on my face never mind all three but I suppose if your skin was really dry after neglect or illness then I would recommend that you use these to give that moisture boost.

A little USA haul! And a few magazine freebies!

This haul is quite exciting as it contains things that are either only available in the USA or that are hard to find here in the UK.

Fellow blogger Annabella from Skin Scrubs was heading back to her native USA and kindly asked if I wanted anything picking up whilst she was there.

It was one of those occasions where everything you've made a mental note of wanting from there vanished from my mind but I did send her a list non the less. So what did I ask for?

Bath and Body Works mini shower gels - OK so these are described as mini's but they're not. Each bottle is 88ml which is quite sizeable. I chose fruity scents and surprisingly my favourite is the Pink Chiffon which contains some floral notes.

Organix hair macadamia oil - Some Organix products are available int he UK but over in the USA they have such a large selection of scents and products. The macadamia range, as far as I'm aware, isn't available in the UK so I asked for the styling oil.

Sally Hansen instant cuticle remover - I'd only ever seen a couple of reviews of these and both reviews were amazing. The fact it claimed to 'dissolve dry cuticles in 15 seconds' instantly made me NEED to try this.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips - these were a kind of impulse buy. They aren't available over here so I took advantage of being able to get hold of some.

EOS lip balm - everyone raves about EOS products so I thought I'd see what they were on about. The lip balms are available in the UK.

Sally Hansen Gem Crush polish - These two colours are amazing. Pink and sparkly, what's not to like? I don't think these are available in the UK. Shades: Lady Luck and Razzle Dazzler.

Milani Jewel FX nail polish - This is a kind of dupe for Models Own Ibiza Mix and the reviews I'd seen for Milani polishes have been good so I added this to my list too! Shade: Gems.

Once again I'd like to say THANK YOU to Annabella for getting these for me and as I've already tried some of these next time she goes to the USA I might be sending her with another shopping list!

And a few more little bits are from the August magazine freebies:

Balance Me minis - Glamour
Avon mascara - Marie Clare
Ren - Red

Project diet starts now!

One of my Day Zero goals is to lose a stone by the end of the year, I've just kind of been hoping this would happen all by itself but as I felt like I'd put on weight these last few weeks I decided it was time for action.

On the scales I popped and yes I had put on 5 pounds.

Shocking.

So I am now going on a healthy eating and exercise program. I'm not following any one in particular but I've decided to go with the low carb route. So what am I cutting down on? Potatoes, pasta, rice, bread are all no-no's but I won't say no to a small portion every now and then. I'm going to be lapping up salad, meat, eggs, vegetables, cheese in the hope it'll kick start my metabolism.

I'm also going to go on my exercise bike at least 3 times a week and do at least 3k a time. This doesn't sound a lot but I'm trying to build it back up to 5k a time. Oh and I'm going to drink more water. When I was working I used to drink at least a litre a day but now I hardly drink any other than tea and pop.

I'm also going to give myself one treat day a week where I can have one can of pop, chocolate and crisps. I think this will be a Friday!

I'll do an update every week or so to let you all know how I'm doing, hopefully well!

Are you currently trying to lose some weight or trying to get fit? Or have you any tips that you'd recommend? Let me know.
