Beauty problems: Cellulite

This is the start of a new set of posts about beauty problems and I'm starting with cellulite.

What is it?
Cellulite affects about 80-90% of the female population and it is rarely seen in males. It is most notably seen as a dimple effect in the skin and it resembles orange peel.

What causes it?
It is caused by pockets of fat which are pushed upwards through the net like connective tissue resulting in the dimpled effect. Cellulite is often a sign that your body's circulation is slowing down and that it's struggling to get rid of substances that it's not used to such as caffeine, nicotine and alcohol but bad diet and a lack of water consumption also have a direct in it's formation.

How to get rid of it?
Cellulite can be irradiated by doing the following things:
Improving the blood flow and circulation - using a dry body brush on areas with cellulite in a circular motion will help to do this
Rehydrate the area - use body lotions and increase your water intake. We should be drinking 8 glasses a day
Decrease toxin intake - reduce the amount of caffeine, alcohol and nicotine you consume
Diet - eat more nutritious food and less process products
Exercise - increase your exercise to try to reduce the amount of fat in your body

I've found the Jergens skin firming moisturiser to actually make a difference but cellulite never goes away properly :( xo

I've noticed cellulite on my body and all I've been doing are leg exercises! I'm not totally sure if products work for cellulite, but I think I need to do more research. Thanks for reminding me! xD

I was reading an article from Cellulean reviews and it also mentioned that about 90% of women and even men have cellulite. From now on I can stop worrying about it and start working on my leg exercises. :)
